Jonathan is a multi award winning film director, producer & screenwriter.

His debut feature SUMMER RAIN has won awards at major international film festivals; including the Grand Jury Prize for BEST FILM at the Director's View Film Festival, the AUDIENCE AWARD at the Rome Independent Film Festival and BEST FILM at the Real to Reel Film Festival.

Jonathan started his film-making career by making numerous 'super 8mm' films as a child; in the process winning many international awards.

His first 16mm short film ROADSIDE led to Kenneth Branagh hiring Jonathan to act as Robert De Niro's character research assistant on FRANKENSTEIN. He then worked as Nicholas Hytner's assistant on THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE.

Two shorts THE PERFECT MURDER and LA BELLE DAME SANS MERCI followed before SUMMER RAIN.
Douglas Clan Tartan

The Douglas Clan Tartan above can be worn by The Glendening's as part of the Black Douglas Clans, famed cattle rustlers.

Famous ancestors include General Sir Charles Napier - sent to India to deal with trouble between the British and the independent princedom of Scinde (pronounced 'sinned'). He speedily dealt with the trouble and occupied Scinde. He then sent a telegram to HQ using just the one word 'peccavi' which is Latin for 'I have sinned'.

The Glendening family has branches in England, Italy and the USA.

Jonathan & Michael's father David was in Africa as a regional officer during the colonial years. In 1981 he was a supervisor with Lord Carrington, overseeing Rhodesia's route to independence.

Sheila, their mother, has created stunning examples of arwork.

Michael was a talented artist and poet. His tragic death came as his work was gaining wider appreciation.

Born with a hole in his heart, he stayed regularly at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children when the family returned to England. As he grew older the condition appeared less life threatening and he led a full life.

A graduate in Biology at Nottingham University he went onto Manchester for his Ph.D, where he decided his destiny lay as an artist rather than a scientist and moved to Scotland. Without any money he hitch-hiked acros Europe, reaching Morocco before turning back.

In 92-92 he lived in Paris, exhibiting at the Attica English Bookshop. In 94 he moved to Lewes and became integral to the Brighton and Lewes poetry workshops. A number of his poems were published and his paintings exhibited in the Star & Hesketh Gallaries.
