What first attracted to the role?

It was a part that, on 1st reading, I thought I'd be able to bring something to- there was a quirkiness and charming desperation to Gary that I immediately responded to and thought I could play.

Are you anything like your character?

I too get beaten up on a regular basis saving women from rapists - though I usually wear a cape and red wellies when i'm doing it.

What’s you background?

Born and raised in south London- schooled in Balham- still waiting
to graduate to adulthood.

How did you get into acting?

I was picked to be in a West-End play aged 11- and it went from there! I went to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts aged 19 because they believed me when I said the fees wouldn't be a problem.

What did you draw on from your life for the film?

Hair-care products- Gary uses 'em- I know a lot about 'em- that and having my heart punctured by the stiletto-heel of rejection many, many times.

Why do you think you got the part?

I pestered the casting director A LOT- something I'd never done before but I had such a strong feeling for the character I would have been gutted to not play him- plus I think it helped that I didn't look like a typical leading man- there's a great range of individuals in the film and I think I must have just slotted right in.

What are your favourite scenes? (& Why?)

The Scene with me mate Charlie Allen on the beach-front firing range ( "Eeeasy tiger")- unbelievably silly and real fun to shoot. Plus all the scenes with Cath Sampson and Andy Crabb- both gifted and subtle comic actors.

Do you have any stories from the filming of Summer Rain?

Yes.

How does your life relate to the film and subject matter?

I think everyone can relate to at least one if not all of the characters and situations in the film and I'm no exception- at that time I had been through a particularly difficult break-up but still had some romantic idealism and Gary's situation reflected that for me. Also, I think it shows that amidst all the seeming pain of a split there is always something wonderful ( and Welsh!) just waiting 'round the corner.

How do you think Summer Rain fits into the whole Brit-flick genre?

Is there a Brit-flick genre anymore? And if there is it doesn't fit in 'cause it doesn't involve drugs and gangsters or corsets and Kiera Poutly.

What was the worst bit of the Summer Rain experience for you?

The end of the first year of filming. Gutted.

What was the best bit of the Summer Rain experience for you?

The beginning of the second year of filming. Happy.

Who do you think will like the film?

Anyone who fancies me- what's Clea's mum's number?!

How and why do you think people will relate to the film?

We can all relate to stories about relationships and being twenty-something- it's vivacious, poignant, light-hearted and a whole lot of fun to watch!

Do you think the setting of Brighton was important? (&Why?)

It's vital to the film- there's a real atmosphere and vitality to Brighton that' s nicely captured in Summer Rain.

Why is Summer Rain special to you?
It was my first and only film- a boyhood dream come true. I die content.
